Unlock Protocol Airdrop: 7M $UP Tokens to over 10,000 Community Members

The Unlock Protocol Foundation is launching its next airdrop to Unlock Protocol community members, distributing over 7 million $UP tokens on Base to over 10,000 community members. The airdrop is starting March 4, 2025.

A previous airdrop, from fall 2024, rewarded Unlock Protocol DAO members who migrated their UDT governance tokens from mainnet to the UP governance token on Base. With the migration from Ethereum mainnet to Base, the Unlock Protocol DAO created a more efficient and scalable governance environment for Unlock DAO members.

The next community airdrop reward goes live today. This next airdrop benefits those who have been active builders, DAO members, and participants in the Unlock Protocol ecosystem.

Rewards are based on a number of criteria, and are allocated to community members who engaged in activities throughout 2023 and 2024 including:

• Integrating Unlock Protocol into a third-party platform

• Creating paid memberships or subscriptions using Unlock Protocol

• Hosting paid events with onchain ticketing through Unlock

• Participating in governance votes or delegating voting power

• Actively contributing to discussions in the Unlock Protocol Discord

• Holding a paid onchain membership or subscription

• Attending a paid event that utilized onchain tickets

• Demonstrating extensive usage of Unlock Protocol in other capacities

This strategy rewards those who are actively involved in expanding the reach and activity of Unlock Protocol.

Throughout the remainder of 2025 and possibly beyond, additional incentives may be announced, with timing and terms subject to change.

The Unlock community is committed to rewarding its members’ participation.

The Unlock Labs team created a collection of scripts that analyzed ecosystem activity during 2023 and 2024 to calculate reward eligibility. The scripts are here.

The scripts output files containing the eligible transactions and associated reward information for eligible wallets.

For this airdrop, the following rubric was used to calculate a points score for each wallet address. Wallets were given points as follows:

• Integrations: 1 point for integrating with unlock (e.g. t2, Hats Protocol)

• Paid memberships, subscriptions, and tickets: 10 points for being a lock manager on a paid lock, 1 point for being a holder on a paid lock

• Free memberships, subscriptions, and tickets: 3 points for being a lock manager on a free lock

• DAO activities: 10 points for each time you vote on a proposal, 1 point for each account that delegates to you

• Community engagement: 1 point for being active in the Discord in previous six months
  

Points multipliers were then given as follows:

• 100x multiplier: Integrating with Unlock Protocol (e.g. t2, Hats Protocol)

• 5x multiplier: Using Unlock Protocol in a paid capacity (e.g. setting up a paid event like FarCon or Onchain Summit)

• 3x multiplier: Active engagement in the Unlock Protocol Discord community

Point totals above 100 were capped to 100 for any individual address.

Once calculated, points were then converted to $UP. Each point was rewarded with 100 $UP. So, for example, an address that earned 73 points would be eligible to claim 7300 $UP in the airdrop.

You can click on the link to see all the eligible addresses, and see the total for that address for the activities that qualified for an UP airdrop as calculated by the script.

The file behind that link is a JSON file, and you should be able to do a Ctrl-F search in your browser to find your wallet address and see the rewards-eligible airdrop amount associated with your wallet. Here’s a snippet as an example, searching on the wallet address of 0xD2BC5cb641aE6f7A880c3dD5Aee0450b5210BE23.

In this snippet, you can see the wallet at 0xD2BC5cb641aE6f7A880c3dD5Aee0450b5210BE23 received 100 points, and therefore 10,000 $UP, the maximum amount for the airdrop. (The values are shown with 18 decimal places.)

The output from this activity analysis script was fed into the campaign claim page.

1. Go to the campaign page at https://airdrops.unlock-protocol.com and click into the airdrop site. Connect your wallet if it’s not connected yet.

2. If eligible, you will see your rewards on your dashboard in the “Claim Your Rewards” sections.

3. Click “Claim Rewards”

4. Once you accept the terms of service and sign the transactions, the awards will be transferred to your wallet.
